About Jim Criniti

For those of you who don't know me yet, I was a sports writer and editor for the Cleveland State University student publication, The Cauldron, from 2000-2004. I had the incredible opportunity to interview Michael Jordan, Miikka Kiprusoff, and countless Cleveland State student athletes during my tenure. In fact, two members of the wrestling team went onto become UFC fighters (Gerald "Hurricane" Harris, and two-time heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic).

I may have left school prior to graduation, but I always had my hand in something related to writing. Most mornings you will find me running daily reports in my office, while listening to sports talk radio on some mobile app or website.

Rarely have I ever ventured out of the confines of the Cleveland metropolitan area, but grew up loving all things Cleveland, and St. Louis. For some reason, that blue note for the St. Louis Blues (NHL) was the coolest thing to me growing up. When I was younger, I was in a heavily-influence Boston Celtics household. My dad's favorite all-time players were Larry Bird and Bill Walton. We were glued to the TV every night of the 1986 NBA Finals.

As I got into my early teens, I developed a fascination with hockey, to where it is my favorite of the four major sports. I took in my first NHL game in Buffalo in March 2017, after covering minor league hockey for several years back at CSU. Every year I have my NHL GameCenter subscription ready to go for the Blues, the Buffalo Sabres and the New York Islanders.

In August 2021, my friend of over 25 years Mike Martinez and I restarted the Wise Guys Sports Show, a take-off of the Wise Ass Sports Network blogs we did back in college. Starting in 2022, I began venturing out into the YouTube realm with corresponding commentaries to the posts on this blog.
