Yup, Golden State Warriors' forward Draymond Green (a.k.a. "Fake Bobby Brown") is back in the news for being an idiot. I know, I know…just like sands through the hourglass.
It was reported this weekend that Green, 26, attempted to send a penis picture to a female using Snapchat. Whether it was someone he was dating, or someone he was trying to hook up with, why do male athletes think this is the way to get their attention?! You make millions of dollars to play a children’s game, and your team was on a national television broadcast more than 50 times this past season. You are a year removed from a championship (tainted as it was for beating an undermanned Cleveland Cavalier squad), and are five weeks removed from the greatest NBA Finals in history. Just think of how much higher his stock would be if you were able to beat the Cavs this year when they were healthy.
(For the record, there is no truth to the rumor the picture in question was going to Ayesha Curry. Although, neither one of them know when (or how) to keep their mouth shut, so I would not close the book that idea just yet.)
Green alleges he hit the wrong button on the Snapchat app that would make the message private instead of public. Instead of going to one woman, "Bobby"’s glory went to potentially millions of followers both on and off the Warrior bandwagon. About 10 minutes later, the picture was reportedly removed. That’s the good news. The bad news for anyone who saw the picture (which I thankfully did not) is there is no amount of alcohol or drug-induced therapy in the world to unsee something like that.
Green was quoted by reporters this weekend during practice for Team USA:
"To say I can't catch a break I think that's disrespectful for everybody. How many people get to live their dreams? I'm not going to sit here and throw myself a pity party and say I can't catch a break. I'm fine.”
No "Bobby"…you’re really not. You obviously have a knack or fetish for anything dealing with that area of someone’s anatomy in the past two months. Green kicked Oklahoma City Thunder forward Steven Adams in the groin during Game Two of the Western Conference Finals. He then proceeded to do it again in Game Three, and--other than a fine--was not disciplined. The Warriors stormed back from down three games to one, and won the series in seven. Green then swiped at LeBron James’ groin in Game Four of the NBA Finals, and was forced to sit Game Five, where the Warriors wasted their first of three straight chances to repeat as NBA champions. It was even caught on camera that in the closing seconds of Game Seven that Green’s leg came up in the vicinity of Kyrie Irving's lower extremeties, after Green's momentum carried him to the floor in fouling James’ infamous attempt to tear down the rim.
The 2016 All Star followed up those Ric Flair impressions by returning to his alma mater of Michigan State, and proceeded to have an altercation with current Spartans football player Jermaine Edmonson. Green allegedly smiled at Edmonson’s girlfriend, slapped (or punched depending on who the statement was issued from) the senior cornerback, and was subsequently arrested on an assault charge. Green, who came back with a .10 blood-alcohol level at the jail later that evening, was eventually fined $560.00, and must avoid Edmonson and any other criminal activity for a period of one year. Edmonson announced he was transferring from East Lansing on July 13.
You would think after the Brett Favre, DeAndre Hopkins, and Grady Sizemore incidents from the past few years that athletes would finally read the memo about cell phones and trying to spice things up with your woman never ending well.
